  • EXplosive ATmospheres (ATEX)

The installations (electrical, mechanical and pneumatic, etc.) operated in areas with a risk of explosion due to the potential presence of explosive atmospheres (gas, vapour or fumes, liquids or dust) must be specifically designed to adapt them to these operating conditions in order to prevent the risk of explosion and protect workers, other staff and the installations involved. The legislation in force concerns both manufacturers and users:

  • ATEX Directive 94/9/EC on equipment intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (in Spain, R.D. 400/1996).
  • Directive 1999/92/EC related to the minimum provisions for the protection of the health and safety of workers exposed to the risks related to explosive atmospheres (in Spain, R.D. 681/2003).

ReparATEX is a procedure that provides certificates in Repair Workshops for equipment operating in Explosive Atmospheres, issued by the J.M. de Madariaga Official Laboratory (LOM) and covers the following aspects:

  • The Repair Workshop itself.
  • The Staff to carry out the repairs.
