Nalón area / Modesta

The Modesta plant, located in Sama and belonging to Sociedad Metalúrgica Duro Felguera since the early 20th century, began work through horizontal mountain mines before building the Modesta shaft, the Modesta washery and the coal yard and loading bay.
The washery was regularly refurbished and transformed over the century until reaching its present structure that dates back to the early 1980s and where the entire coal production from the Nalón area is processed. |
