Caudal area - Figaredo

This pit is one of the first mines in the Turón valley and dates back to 1867.

Famous for having some of the best coking coal in Spain, the first coke batteries being built on this site in 1890.

In the early 1930s, the pits were built to mine the reserves located under the riverbed, although the projects were delayed because of the Spanish Civil War.

The Figaredo pit became part of HUNOSA in 1998.
