Future plan and third programme contract: 1987-1990

This plan ended the decade, with a very considerable drift in the evolution of productivity and absenteeism and that was reflected in the profit and loss account. The four-year plan was reasonably abided by during its first year, but went into a continuous process of deviations from then on. In 1990, the company met only 9.6% of national demand (14.5% in 1980). The non-strategic factors such as socio-regional problems, took over in the public company’s defence strategy. At the start of this plan, on 1st January 1987, Hunosa’s real workforce amounted to 20,470 employees and, on 31st December 1990, this figure had dropped to 18,250, with real production of 3.0 million tons in the first year (1987), 3.2 million tons in 1988 and 1989 and 3.1 million tons in 1990. |
